Ondo State at 50: Ondo West Celebrates

This February 2026, Ondo State has officially reached a historic milestone—we are 50 years old! This "Golden Jubilee" is a proud moment of celebration for everyone across the state, and especially for the good people of Ondo West Local Government.

To mark this special occasion, the State Government, led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has rolled out a series of statewide events. The central theme for this golden celebration is “Ondo State: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” which allows us to look back at our rich history while planning for a brighter future.

Important Holiday Notice for All Residents: To ensure that every citizen can fully participate in the joy of the celebrations, the State Government officially declared Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as public holidays. The anniversary activities planned for the state include:

Special thanksgiving prayers at the central mosque and local churches.

An educational public lecture focusing on the growth and development of the state.

A special statewide broadcast from the Governor.

A grand State Carnival at the Ondo State Sports Stadium to showcase our vibrant culture.
