Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe Flags Off Major Grading of Bagbe Community Roads to Aid Farmers
Bagbe Community, Ondo West – In a significant boost to rural infrastructure and food security, Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe has successfully flagged off and completed the grading of major access roads within the Bagbe community. This road project is seen as a lifeline for the area, which serves as a critical agricultural hub for Ondo West Local Government.
Solving the Transportation Challenge
Before this intervention, the roads leading in and out of the farming settlements in Bagbe were in a deplorable state. During the rainy season, these roads often became impassable, making it extremely difficult for farmers to transport their harvested crops to the markets. This lack of access often led to the spoilage of farm produce and financial losses for the hardworking farmers.
Supporting Agriculture and Food Security
The newly graded roads have immediately opened up the community. Farmers can now transport their yams, cassava, vegetables, and other produce directly from their farms to the newly built Bagbe Market and even to the larger markets in Ondo town with ease. By reducing the stress and cost of transportation, this project will help lower the price of food items and ensure that fresh produce reaches consumers faster.
Community Reaction
The residents of Bagbe have poured out their appreciation for this timely intervention. A representative of the farmers' association in the area thanked Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe for remembering the rural areas.
"Many people forget us in the villages, but Hon. Olumbe has shown that he cares about our welfare. These good roads mean more money in our pockets because we can now sell our farm produce without suffering," the representative stated.
Commitment to Grassroots Development
This road project, combined with the new market and trader grants, confirms Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe’s holistic approach to community development. By fixing the roads that lead to the market, and then building the market itself, he has created a complete ecosystem that will drive prosperity and growth for the entire Bagbe community.
