
5MW Electricity Project Flagged Off in Ondo West

Ondo Town, Ondo West – In a landmark move to solve power challenges and boost the local economy, a major 5-megawatt independent power project has been officially launched in Ondo town.
The project, which is a partnership between the Ondo State Government and energy firm Lincs Power Energy Solutions, was facilitated by Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe, the former Senior Special Assistant on ICT to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
A Historic Groundbreaking Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, the Project Manager of Lincs Power Energy Solutions, Mr. Otinniyi Micheal, revealed the ambitious roadmap for the initiative. He explained that while the project kicks off with a 5-megawatt capacity, there are concrete plans to upgrade it to 20 megawatts in the near future.
"This project is designed to provide reliable, steady electricity not just to Ondo West Local Government but to the entire environs," Mr. Micheal stated. He expressed optimism that with the current pace of work and the support of the state government, the project would be completed in record time.
Facilitator’s Vision The facilitator of the project, Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe, described the ceremony as the beginning of a new era for the community. He emphasized that reliable power is the key to unlocking the economic potential of Ondo West.
"This 5MW power project is expected to provide reliable electricity to our people, boosting economic growth and significantly improving the quality of life for residents," Akinkugbe noted. "Lincs Power Energy Solutions has pledged to deliver this project as promised, and today marks the start of that construction phase."
Government Support The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, gave his full backing to the initiative. Represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Energy, Mr. Alabi Johnson, the Governor expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe for his tireless efforts in attracting such a high-value investment to the state.
The Governor’s representative called on the entire Ondo West community to rally behind the initiative, noting that it is a critical step toward the state's industrialization goals.
